What is an FCE? A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a broad term to describe the physical assessment of an individual's ability to perform work-related activity. A well-designed FCE should be comprehensive in terms of encompassing the physical demands of work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. Here at North Shore Myofascial Physical Therapy, we can allot as much time as needed to perform the various exercises and tests. An FCE usually consists of a medical review, musculoskeletal screening, and physical ability testing. FCEs are done on a one-to-one basisand may range in length from 4 to 6 hours.
